Susan Dickinson
Mermaid's Blood published in Cricket Magazine

Susan Dickinson writes both fiction and nonfiction for children, young adults, and young-at-heart adults. Her story, Mermaid's Blood, published in Cricket Magazine, won the International Reading Association's 2014 Short Story Award. She has written several other short stories, both contemporary and historical, about the magic and wonder of life along the seacoast south of Boston. These include The Cygnet and Message in a Bottle, both also published in Cricket Magazine. Her nonfiction publications include her humorous memoir of a business start-up, Travels with Shubh, and her tongue-in-cheek travelogue about climbing Kilimanjaro, published serially online in More Magazine's Our Stories. She is presently finishing a book-length mystery for young readers, Police Log: Hyasset, a romp that illustrates again her favorite theme: the connectedness of seemingly unrelated events, and the importance of seemingly unimportant actions.
