Peter Raymond Freebody

Peter Freebody is an Honorary Professorial Fellow at both The University of Wollongong and The University of Sydney, Australia. Originally a teacher of high school English, and a graduate of the Center for the Study of Reading at The University of Illinois, he has taught and published in the areas of literacy education, educational disadvantage, classroom interaction, and educational research methods. Peter has been lead writer of the framework for the Australian national English curriculum, and the Australian Commonwealth Government's nominee on the National Literacy and Numeracy Expert Group. He is an elected Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and a member of the IRA's Literacy Research Panel.
