To increase member understanding and awareness of literacy issues in developing countries; to explore specific ways in which individual members, councils and other IRA groups can become involved in promoting literacy worldwide; to become a meeting place where members from developing countries can interact with those who have a special interest in the challenges of literacy in the developing world; and to commit to supporting the mission of Peace Corps and other volunteer groups who support literacy initiatives in developing countries.
