Committees give the IRA Board of Directors the opportunity to tap into the expertise in the IRA membership. Share your knowledge—volunteer yourself or a colleague for committee service.
Volunteer for a Committee
The International Reading Association is looking for Team Leaders for their Choices Programs (Children’s, Teachers’ and Young Adult’s). The IRA considers numerous factors in selection, such as geographical representation, number of students, type of population, knowledge of children and young adult literature, leadership and professional involvement, attendance at IRA conferences, and interest from and support of selected schools. If you are committed to children and young adult literature and have access to students, please fill out the online application.
There is a separate process in place for appointment of IRA members who are interested in serving as team leaders for Children’s Choices, Teachers’ Choices, or Young Adults’ Choices. For more information on IRA Choices Projects and the online application check out the individual Choices programs below for details.

IRA also has eight (8) regional International Development Committees (IDC’s) which are responsible for implementing the IRA mission in their respective regions through the IRA Strategic Directions.
There is a separate process in place for appointment of these committees, and it is highly desirable that you reside in the region where you would like to volunteer. If you would like more information about IDC committee volunteer opportunities, please contact the Global Operations Unit at firstname.lastname@example.org.
