How do I navigate the site?
This site is divided into four sections, shown in the banner menu at the top of each page. Once you enter a section, major topics and subtopics appear on the left. Links to pages within subtopics may be shown in a right-hand menu (as on this page), or listed in the content.
If you have trouble finding content you expect to be on the site, try using the Site Map or search feature. All pages have a quick search box on the top left, below the IRA logo. The Advanced Search page provides additional options for focusing a search on a particular information type, topic, or learner.
How do I access an online journal or publication?
Beginning with the September 2004 issue, the full text of The Reading Teacher and the Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy is available online. Selected articles from earlier issues are also available. For Reading Research Quarterly, issues beginning with January 1996 can be found at this website, along with selections from earlier volumes. In addition, samples from Thinking Classroom and Reading Today are freely available. Finally, numerous book chapters can be found here.
This rich online library is located in the Publications area of the site. Simply follow the links to find the journal or other published content in which you are interested.
All users can access journal tables of contents and article abstracts. Access to the full text of an article generally requires a member log in or pay-per-view purchase, though numerous sample articles are freely available to all. See Help With Logging In and Help With Using the Marketplace for more information on access-controlled content.
